It’s a pretty sad state of affairs that most automatically assume it would be difficult, if not nigh-on impossible to dress fashionably as a Muslim – the reality really couldn’t be more to the contrary. In fact, there are so many ways and means to adopt a little creativity and dynamism without ever crossing the line – the good news being most of the best tips and tricks out there don’t have to cost the Earth either!

Give thought to the following top-five:

Patterns and Prints

Don’t be afraid to experiment with a few different patterns and prints, as while the more standard neutral tones and colours are the most obvious choices they really do little for the imagination – especially in the spring time. According to those in the know, there are only three rules to pattern perfection which are keeping at least one print simple in detail, keeping on in a neutral colour and making sure the shapes you choose are classic.

Layer Up
One of the biggest problems Muslim women face is that of finding stunning garments that are inappropriate for being too short, too revealing or open in the wrong places. So, the best way around this is to think about layering – as in putting longer garments underneath and enabling you to wear shorter clothing on top. A stunning evening dress that only goes as far as the shins for example could be complimented with black trousers underneath or longer boots, achieving the same coverage though with a much more creative look.

Cardigans
Another great idea is to take home a couple of longer-length cardigans with a slimmer fit to be worn on top of a mix dress – a good alternative to layering up underneath when the weather is colder. One of the biggest benefits of doing so is various new outfit choices that are good all year round!

Accessories
There’s nothing in the world that can create a focal point of an outfit quite like well thought-out and worn accessories. The key here is to be subtle and creative, while at the same time creating a wow-factor that’s as timeless as it is elegant. Think about the classics like brooches, handbags, sunglasses and stylish hijab pins to really set any outfit off with a new dynamic.

Headscarves
And finally, never overlook the creative and fashionable options there are in terms of headscarves – a sensible and creative choice to contrast or blend in with the rest of your outfit can really make all the difference in the world. There are tons of colours and patterns out there to choose from which means no real excuse for choosing the same type and colour each and every day no matter what the occasion or outfit as a whole.
